HISTORY
The lodge was built by Ethelberg Lort-Phillips (1857-1943), a wealthy man and avid angler from Dartmouth, England. Many English fishing tourists came to fish for salmon in the rivers in the area, and Lort-Phillips saw an opportunity to offer accommodation options related to this. He built four cabins where the salmon fishermen had the opportunity for state accommodation and catering. Todalshytta was built in 1901 after drawings made by his wife Lady Luise Jane Forbes Lort-Phillips.
